Plus-Size Bra Size Guide

All measurements are in inches. We carry bands 30–50 and cups A–K (US sizing). Grab a soft tape measure — it takes about two minutes.

1. How to measure

  1. Underbust (band size) — wrap the tape snugly and level around your ribcage, directly under your bust. Keep it parallel to the floor and exhale before you read the number. It should feel firm, not tight. Round to the nearest whole inch.
  2. Bust (cup size) — wrap the tape loosely around the fullest part of your bust, again level all the way around. Don’t pull it tight, and don’t wear a padded bra while measuring.
No tape measure? Use a phone charging cable or a piece of string, then lay it flat against a ruler. Measure twice — most “my bra doesn’t fit” problems come from a rushed first measurement.

2. Find your band size

3. Find your cup size

Subtract your underbust from your bust. The difference in inches is your cup:

Need a cup below C or above I? Message us — we stock bands 30–50 and cups A–K, and we’ll tell you exactly what’s in stock in your size.

5. Sister sizes (when you’re between sizes)

Bra sizes that hold the same cup volume are called sister sizes. If a bra feels right in the cup but the band is off, move one step along the same row — you keep the cup volume and change only the band:

  • Band too tight? Go up one band and down one cup (38DD → 40D).
  • Band too loose / riding up? Go down one band and up one cup (38DD → 36DDD).
  • Cups fit but straps dig in? The band is doing too little of the work — try a firmer band, not tighter straps.

6. Fit notes for fuller busts & plus sizes

  • The band does 80% of the support. It should sit level around your body on the loosest hook when new — you’ll move to the tighter hooks as the elastic relaxes.
  • Wide, padded straps matter more above a D cup. Narrow straps concentrate weight and cause shoulder grooves.
  • Look for a firm side wing (side sling). This is what keeps tissue from spilling toward your armpit — the single biggest difference between a cheap large cup and a well-built one.
  • The center gore should sit flat against your sternum. If it floats away, the cups are too small.
  • Wire-free can still be supportive in a full cup — look for a wide underband and molded seaming rather than stretch lace alone.
  • Between two sizes? For everyday wear choose the larger cup; for a smoothing, minimizing fit choose the firmer band.

7. Three checks before you keep it

  1. Band test — it sits level front and back, and you can slide two fingers underneath.
  2. Cup test — no gaping at the top, no spill over the edge or under the arm.
  3. Lift test — raise both arms; the band stays put and the cups don’t slide out from under you.

8. Care

  • Hand wash cold, or machine wash in a mesh bag on delicate.
  • Never wring or tumble dry — reshape the cups and air dry flat, away from direct sun.
  • Rotate between at least three bras; elastic needs a day to recover its shape.
